Australia are eyeing another win as they look to keep their perfect start to World Cup qualifying alive.

  • Bangladesh have not scored in either of their last two World Cup qualifying matches
  • Bangladesh have lost their last three meetings with their opponents, conceding four or more each time
  • Australia are yet to concede across their four qualifying games
  • The Socceroos have scored 15 times across their last four outings

Head To Head

The two sides have met a total of three times, with Australia winning all three matches with an aggregate score of 16-0.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh already find themselves someway short of the top of Group I in World Cup qualifying after an awful start to their campaign.

A 7-0 loss to Australia in game one was a defeat that surprised few, but Bangladesh have since struggled to win games against opponents they would target as beatable. A 1-1 draw with Lebanon was followed by a 5-0 loss to Palestine, with Bangladesh struggling for goals and defensive solidity.

With second on the ladder already six points clear of them, Bangladesh will likely have to resign themselves to targeting third on the ladder as they try to ensure they do not finish bottom of the group.

Australia Form

Australia have been excellent in qualifying so far, with four matches resulting in four wins, 15 goals scored and four clean sheets.

While the Socceroos would have been earmarked as the most likely to finish at the top of the ladder, the style in which they have taken top-spot is impressive, with the outfit not really looking troubled.

A potentially tricky trip to face second-placed Palestine in round two ended in a 1-0 win, with this giving the Socceroos a big lead at the top. With five points between themselves and Palestine, Australia will target swelling the +15 goal difference they have built against their rock bottom opponents this week.

Verdict

I am backing Australia to romp to a big win as they make it five wins in a row in qualifying by hammering their hapless opponents.
