Man City vs Al Hilal Tips & Predictions
Man City look to make it four wins from four at the FIFA Club World Cup and secure their place in the quarter-finals when they meet Al Hilal on Monday night at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Pep Guardiola has won all 11 matches he's managed at the FIFA Club World Cup and City were the only team to win all three matches in the group stage, finishing top of Group G by thumping Juventus 5-2 in their last outing. Al Hilal meanwhile were impressive in holding Real Madrid and Salzburg to draws, advancing in second place in Group H, while they also had the equal-best defence in the competition, conceding just one goal.
City are obviously the superior side, but Al Hilal have put together an expensive and classy team themselves over the years and need to be respected. I'm backing City to prevail, but the Saudi club can get on the scoresheet in defeat after the Cityzens leaked two goals in their last game against Juventus.
Head To Head
This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Man City Form
It was a disappointing season for City, but they do have a chance to pick up some silverware at the FIFA Club World Cup after winning this competition in their only previous appearance.
After easing to comfortable clean sheet victories over Al Ain and Wydad, City raised their level to crush Juventus 5-2 and secure top spot in the group.
Jeremy Doku opened the scoring, while Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Savinho found the back of the net in the second half to ice the win.
City scored a total of 13 goals in their three group games, more than any other side in the competition.
Man City Team News
City will be without the services of Claudio Echeverri and Rico Lewis for this game.
- Goalkeepers: Marcus Bettinelli, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Ederson
- Defenders: Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Vitor Reis, Josep Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji, Abdukodir Khusanov, Rico Lewis
- Midfielders: Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku, Nico, Rodrigo, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Matheus Nunes, Rayan Cherki, Claudio Echeverri, Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb, Nico O'Reilly
- Forwards: Omar Marmoush, Erling Haaland
Al Hilal Form
Al Hilal finished second in the Saudi Pro League this season, but their total of 95 goals was 15 more than the next-best side - they are extremely dangerous going forward.
Simone Inzaghi's side went unbeaten throughout the group stage, earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Real Madrid and also sharing the spoils with Salzburg before a 2-0 victory over Pachuca handed them a place in the knockout phase.
Salem Al Dawsari scored in the 22nd minute of that win before Brazilian Marcos Leonardo iced the game in injury time.
Al Hilal Team News
Big blow for Al Hilal, with captain Salem Al Dawsari and star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic both sidelined for this clash.
- Goalkeepers: Mohammed Al-Rubaie, Yassine Bounou, Ahmad Abu Rasen, Abdulelah Al-Ghamdi
- Defenders: Kalidou Koulibaly, Khalifah Al-Dawsari, Ali Al-Bulaihi, Yasser Al-Shahrani, Joao Cancelo, Moteb Al-Harbi, Rayan Al-Ghamdi, Saleh Barnawi, Saud Haroun, Saad Al-Muthary, Ali Lajami, Hassan Altambakti, Hamad Al-Yami
- Midfielders: Renan Lodi, Khalid Al-Ghannam, Ruben Neves, Mohammed Al-Qahtani, Nasser Al-Dawsari, Musab Al-Juwayr, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Kaio Cesar, Mohamed Kanno, Salem Al-Dawsari, Mohammed bin Muhaysh, Abdulaziz Hadhood, Malcom, Abdulelah Almalki
- Forwards: Aleksandar Mitrovic, Marcos Leonardo, Turki Al-Ghumayl, Abdullah Al-Hamdan
Verdict
City should have too much class, but Al Hilal are dangerous and scored against Real Madrid in the group stage.
I'm backing City to win, with both teams finding the back of the net.
