The 2023/24 La Liga season is heating up, with the top teams in Spain all fighting to be the dominant force across the new campaign.

Real Madrid are the favourites with bookmaker bet365 at $1.02 while reigning champions Barcelona have drifted out to $21.00 after a less-than-perfect run of late. Can Barcelona secure yet another title this year?

Real Madrid$1.02
Atletico Madrid $101.00
Athletic Bilbao$1001.00
Real Sociedad$1501.00
Real Betis $1501.00
Rest of the field$3001.00+

Real Madrid may not have secured the title last season, but they are the favourites with bet365 at $1.02 to triumph this year. Reigning champions Barcelona are drifting behind them at $21.00, while Girona are currently available at $29.00 following a stunning run of 17 wins in 25 matches which has seen them move up to third on the ladder.

Real's great rivals Atletico Madrid lead the rest of the chasing pack at $101.00, before the betting starts to jump, with Athletic Bilbao ($1001.00), Real Sociedad ($1501.00) and Real Betis ($1501.00) next in line.

Clearly, the bookies make Real, Girona and Barca the favourites, and while Atleti are fancied to be the best of the rest, those below the top three are evidently a long way short in the betting. Real and Barca will continue to trade blows as the season goes by, but can any side outside of the top two seriously contest this term? Can Girona prove they are in this one for the long haul?

In the 2022/23 season, Barcelona romped to the title by 10 points. Losing just six of their 38 games, Barcelona looked near unbeatable, with three of their defeats coming in their last four with the title already secured.

Atletico may have finished a point behind Real in the table last year, but they can hardly see this as a triumph. Real were poor in the second-half of their season and still finished above Atleti. If they are to seriously challenge this year, Atletico need to find a way to win more often, with eight draws and seven defeats not good enough if they are to finish above Barca and Real.

With the new season here, which side do you think will lift the trophy? Can Barcelona defend their crown, or will another side take the glory?
