Atletico Madrid were typically solid in their Champions League group-stage campaign as they avoided defeat across their opening six.

The two sides have only met twice, with Inter winning back in 2018 and Atletico triumphing in 2010.
Inter Milan Form
Inter Milan have been in excellent form this season, making it out of a tough Champions League group and also topping the ladder in Serie A.
In Europe, Inter won three times and secured draws in their other three outings. Two of their three wins came at home, with the Italian side winning by a single goal against both Benfica and RB Salzburg. In the league, they have won 20 of their 24 games, meaning they have a nine-point lead at the summit.
Inter's clash with Atletico Madrid will likely be one in which the two defences are on top. With this in mind, a third win by one goal in their last four European home games is my choice of result this week.
Atletico Madrid Form
Atletico Madrid made it four wins in a row in the group-stage of the Champions League after their 2-0 win over Lazio in game six, with this win seeing them finish at the summit.
Atleti beat each of Feyenoord, Celtic and Lazio at home, but the only side they could beat on the road was the former. Indeed, Atleti could only take a point from Lazio and Celtic away from home as they were held twice.
While Atletico will be incredibly tough to beat at home, I am not convinced by their away form in Europe. While they are yet to lose, they have not played a team of the quality of Inter, and I predict they will fall to a tight defeat in this one.
Verdict
I am backing Inter Milan to edge to a win in this one as they take a one-goal lead into the second-leg in Spain.
