Scotland know they need to put their best foot forward in their opening game as they look to battle through one of the tougher groups at Euro 2024.

Germany have been doing some serious soul searching in the last few years, with their exploits at major tournaments of late not good enough.

Euro 2024 constitutes a fantastic chance to show the rest of the world they have learned the lessons from their group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup, with the side arriving for their opening game on the back of a four-game unbeaten run.

Impressively, the Germans have beaten France and the Netherlands in this time, and they will be confident they can kickstart their campaign by beating Scotland for their third game in a row. With the Germans beating Scotland 2-1 in two of their last three and wining by the same scorline against the Netherlands and Greece, I am backing a tight win.

Scotland will be put on one of the biggest stages of them all this week as they are given the chance to help open Euro 2024.

While the Scottish will fancy their chances of giving what may be a nervous German side some real problems, their lack of consistent wins in their last cluster of games is a real worry.

With the exception of a 2-0 win over Gibraltar earlier in the month, Scotland have hardly shone. A lack of goals in their last four has been a real issue, while they have only kept one clean sheet in this time. While I do back them to find the back of the net, I cannot see them shocking the world with a win in game one.
