France vs Germany Tips

France have an incredible squad with balance, depth and are deserved favourites to win Euro 2020. I am backing Led Bleus to beat Germany with Antoine Griezmann the value play in the goalscoring markets.

  • France have won 6 of their last 7 matches (all competitions).
  • France have won to nil in their last 4 matches (all competitions).
  • France have won 3-0 in their last 2 matches (friendlies).
  • France’s Antoine Griezmann has scored 4 goals in his last 5 internationals (all competitions).
  • France have won 3 of their last 5 matches against Germany (all competitions).
  • France’s Antoine Griezmann has scored 4 goals in his last 3 starts against Germany (all competitions).
  • Germany have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 matches against France (all competitions).

Head to Head

France have a 14-10 advantage against Germany with 7 draws in 31 matches.

They last met in a friendly in October, France winning 7-1 at Stade de France.

France Form

France have won six of their last seven matches and four in a row.

Didier Deschamps’ side started the World Cup qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Ukraine. Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring but they couldn’t close it out despite having 63% possession and 18-3 shots.

Les Bleus bounced back with a 2-0 win in Kazakhstan and 1-0 win in Bosnia-Herzegovina where Griezmann scored the winner. They have played two friendlies to prepare for Euro 2020.

France beat Wales 3-0 with Kylian Mbappé, Griezmann and Ousmane Dembélé on target before a 3-0 win against Bulgaria with Griezmann opening the scoring and Olivier Giroud bagging a brace.

France Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris (Captain), Steve Mandanda, Mike Maignan
Defenders: Benjamin Pavard, Presnel Kimpembe, Raphaël Varane, Clément Lenglet, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne, Lucas Hernandez, Léo Dubois, Jules Koundé
Midfielders: Paul Pogba, Thomas Lemar, Corentin Tolisso, N'Golo Kanté, Adrien Rabiot, Moussa Sissoko
Forwards: Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Karim Benzema, Kingsley Coman, Wissam Ben Yedder, Marcus Thuram

Corentin Tolisso could start next to N'Golo Kanté and Paul Pogba in midfield.

There are plenty of goals in this team with Karim Benzema scoring 27 international goals, Antoine Griezmann with 37 and Olivier Giroud with 46 goals.

Benzema picked up a knock against Bulgaria but is expected to start up front alongside Kylian Mbappe.

Germany Form

Germany have been inconsistent since 2020. They have won six of 13 matches in that run which includes a 6-0 loss against Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

Joachim Löw’s side started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-0 home win against Iceland and 1-0 win in Romania. They returned to Germany and lost 2-1 against North Macedonia, conceding in the 85th minute after Ilkay Gündogan equalised from the penalty spot.

Die Mannschaft have played two international friendlies to prepare for Euro 2020.

Germany drew 1-1 against Denmark before a 7-1 win against Latvia with Robin Gosens, Ilkay Gündogan, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, Timo Werner and Leroy Sané on target.

Germany Squad & Team News

Verdict

France are the World Cup champions and favourites to win Euro 2020. I am expecting Les Bleus to be too good for Germany with value on Antoine Griezmann in the goalscoring markets.
