The 2024 UEFA European Football Championship, more commonly known as Euro 2024, has begun, with the best sides in Europe fighting for supremacy.

Italy secured the glory at the last iteration of the tournament, and they arrive for this one at $17.00 shots to regain their title. However, with the competition already heating up, which side is the current favourite?

Euro 2024 Winner
England $5.00

Italy ($17.00) may be the reigning champions ahead of Euro 2024, but they are someway out in the betting, with beaten finalists from Euro 2020 England ($5.00) and France ($5.00) the current favourites with Betfair.

Hosts Germany ($6.00), Spain ($8.50) and Portugal ($7.00) are the only other sides available under $10.00, with the likes of the Belgium ($23.00), the Netherlands ($15.00) and Croatia ($51.00) are also in the equation.

England will be a side that many will approach with a lot of caution heading into the tournament. They are the favourites right now and have already secured qualification for the showpiece event, but they have not won a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.

Gareth Southgate has a glut of world-class players at his disposal, but getting the best out of a brilliant England team at a major tournament is a problem that a multitude of managers have had.

Indeed, they laboured to a 1-0 win over Serbia in game one despite taking the lead early-on. Alongside England winning, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands all got off to winning starts. Meanwhile, Belgium and Croatia were the big names to fall to defeats.

France come into the competition as a side that continues to impress, with the runners-up medal at the last World Cup seeing them miss out on defending the World Cup crown they secured in 2018 by a single win.

Cristiano Ronaldo's exploits with Portugal continue to keep the side in the hunt for another trophy, while hosts Germany have a point to prove after struggling at the 2022 World Cup.

With so much time between now and the start of the tournament, the odds will change as teams win and lose and players come in and out of form. Will England be the last team standing at the competition, or will another side secure the trophy?
