Everton vs West Ham Tips

Everton held on for a valuable point against Brighton in their last match as they returned to Goodison Park unbeaten following a 1-1 draw.

West Ham hammered Brentford 4-2 in an entertaining match that put the defensive flaws of both teams on full show.

  • Everton have drawn seven times this season (W8, L11)
  • The Toffees have drawn five of their last six in the league (L1)
  • West Ham are winless in their last three on the road (D1, L2)
  • Six of the last seven meetings between the sides have seen less than 2.5 goals scored

Head To Head

Everton have won nine of their last 20 meetings with West Ham, with the latter winning seven times and the other four games ending in draws.

Everton Form

Despite struggling for wins of late, Everton continue to climb the ladder, with their stubborn defence continuing to prove more than a match for the opposition.

Impressive stalemates with the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and Brighton shows that Everton are strong at the back, but their attack has let them down too often, with the side scoring just 28 goals in 26 matches.

With three draws in their last three home games, the Toffees will feel that they need to find a way to turn draws into wins more consistently. However, with a shaky West Ham as the visitors, this one may be a cagey clash.

West Ham Form

West Ham continue to struggle for form, with the Hammers slipping down to eighth on the ladder following a single win in their last seven league games.

Their 4-2 win over Brentford was a welcome return to winning ways, but this came against a side that have been awful of late. With an Everton side that have not dealt in defeats of late, this is a real test of West Ham's ability to break a team down.

While the away side will have every intention of downing their opponents, a single win in their last five away games alludes to a weakness on the road, and I believe they will have to settle for a draw in this one.

Verdict

I am backing this one to end in a draw, with both sides struggling for goals as the points are shared.
