Chelsea vs Liverpool Tips

Liverpool will look to take another step towards their ambitious quadruple bid when they take on Chelsea in this FA Cup final. This match will be played at the Wembley Stadium in London in the early morning hours of Sunday, Australia time.

Although their Premier League chances are very slim at the moment, Liverpool have a great chance to win their second domestic title of the season. They have defeated Chelsea via penalties in the Carabao Cup with the Blues looking to overcome the pain of losing in the final of the FA Cup in the last two seasons. I am backing this game to be entertaining with goals at both ends while Liverpool may just edge a Chelsea side that could be hampered by injury absences.

  • Chelsea have won 2 of their last 6 matches (All competitions)
  • Chelsea have scored in 16 of their last 17 matches (All competitions)
  • Liverpool have scored in their last 15 matches (All competitions)
  • Liverpool have won 7 of their last 8 matches (All competitions)
  • Liverpool have won 6 of their last 10 matches against Chelsea losing only 2 (All competitions)

Head to Head

These two teams have met each other 191 times in all competitions with Liverpool winning 83 and losing just 65. The remaining 43 matches have ended as draws.

Chelsea and Liverpool have already met each other three times this season including in the final of the Carabao Cup. All three matches ended level at 90 minutes with the Cup won by Liverpool via penalties. The two Premier League matches between these sides this season saw both teams score goals.

Chelsea Form

Chelsea are coming off a 3-0 win over Leeds United in the Premier League which made it two wins over their last six matches with two draws and two losses completing the roster.

The Blues have won their five matches in the FA Cup this season quite comfortably, although only one of those was against Premier League opponent.

The London side are in their third consecutive FA Cup final having lost their last two to Arsenal and Leicester City. This will be their 16th appearance in the competition’s final.

Chelsea Team News

Midfielder Mateo Kovacic picked up an ankle injury against Leeds on Wednesday and is set to miss this match. N’Golo Kante missed the Leeds game but may make a comeback here.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 and stay right behind Man City in the Premier League race, although their chances look very remote.

The Reds have now won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions with the 1-1 draw against Tottenham only blip in that run.

If they win here, Liverpool will win both domestic trophies for the first time since 2000/01. This will be Liverpool’s 15th appearance in the competition’s final.

Liverpool Team News

Fabinho is likely to miss this match due to a hamstring injury suffered during the midweek game. Jurgen Klopp has otherwise no injury issues with his squad.

What time does Chelsea vs Liverpool kick off?

This Chelsea vs Liverpool FA Cup final match is being played at the Wembley Stadium at 1:45am Australia time on Sunday, May 15.

Chelsea and Liverpool have met each other in the FA Cup final once before in 2012 when Chelsea won 2-1. This time, the form and odds are favouring Liverpool who look a much more confident side than Chelsea.

I am backing both teams to entertain with goals at both ends in this fixture. Liverpool have too much quality for Chelsea and is my pick to end up with this trophy.
