Kompany couldn't have asked for a better start, with Bayern overcoming Wolfsburg 3-2 on the road in their opener before easing past Freiburg 2-0 at home.
Harry Kane scored his first goal of the new season against Freiburg via the penalty spot, with veteran Thomas Muller adding the second.
