Western United will host a match in Ballarat for just the third time in their history. Their last match at Mars Stadium ended in a 3-1 loss against Wellington Phoenix.
Western United Form
Western United have continued where they left off last season with several high-scoring affairs in the opening few weeks.
They came away with a 5-4 win at home to Perth Glory, with winger Dylan Pierias scoring a debut double off the bench and midfielder Steven Lustica scoring the winner in the 84th minute.
While their next match against Melbourne Victory ended in a 0-0, Western had two goals disallowed and even struck the crossbar twice in the second half.
Their most recent match saw them go down 3-2 away to the Central Coast Mariners. Despite taking the lead twice through striker Besart Berisha and defender Tomislav Uskok, the green-and-black failed to hang on against a fast finishing Mariners.
This will be Western’s first match in ten days with their last two matches postponed.
Western United Team News
Forward Max Burgess returned off the bench after he was granted extended leave during the pre-season.
Fullback Josh Risdon is still sidelined with a broken tibia, while midfielder Seb Pasqual will also miss with a hip injury.
Macarthur come in unbeaten in their last three matches and in fine goalscoring form.
The Bulls held Western Sydney to a 2-2 draw with defenders Aleksander Jovanovic and Aleksander Susnjar scoring. Macarthur then upset Brisbane Roar away from home, defeating the then league leaders 2-0.
It took until the 76th for the Bulls to open the scoring, with midfielder Denis Genreau scoring his first for the club. Ex-Blackburn striker Matt Derbyshire then iced the win with his 90th minute goal.
Derbyshire continued his fine form in Macarthur’s next match against Adelaide. The forward netted a second half hattrick to lead the Bulls to a 4-0 win – their biggest yet – with captain Mark Milligan scoring as well.
Macarthur Team News
Macarthur come into this clash with a fully fit squad.
