Head to Head

Western Sydney have a 14-9 record against Wellington with five draws in 28 encounters.

Their last meeting saw the Wanderers record a thrilling 4-3 win at home. Striker Kwame Yeboah scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, while the Phoenix had a 94th minute goal disallowed.

Western Sydney Wanderers Form

The Wanderers have slipped back down the table after consecutive losses in the league.

Western Sydney recorded their biggest win of the season when they defeated Western United 5-0 at home. Midfielder James Troisi opened the scoring, while defender Ziggy Gordon and striker Bernie Ibini also added to the scoresheet.

The following week saw the Wanderers concede five goals as they went down 5-1 away to Perth. Striker Bruce Kamau scored the side’s goal as they were humbled just days after recording a triumphant victory.

Their woes were exacerbated when they lost their the season’s third Sydney derby 1-0 at the SCG. Despite Western Sydney's dominant recent record over the Sky Blues, they were outclassed on the day and now sit three points outside the top six.

The Wanderers will come into this clash with a fully fit squad.

Wellington Phoenix Form

Wellington sit just three points outside the top six.

The Phoenix managed to force a point out of Adelaide United in a goalless draw away from home. Wellington were gifted a late advantage when Reds defender Ryan Strain was sent off, but were unable to make the most of having the extra man.

Another draw followed, this time against Melbourne City in a 2-2 affair. Israeli striker Tomer Hemed opened the scoring, before heading home a late equaliser to secure a valuable point.

Wellington were rewarded for their persistence as they saw off Western United in a 3-0 win in their first match in New Zealand this year.

It was a happy homecoming as midfielders Clayton Lewis and Reno Piscopo scored early goals, before Hemed sealed the win in the 63rd minute.

Wellington Phoenix Team News

Defender Luke DeVere remains sidelined with a knee injury, while captain Ulises Davila will also miss with injury.
