It’s another Grand Final rematch, with both these sides in red-hot form. City’s Jamie Maclaren can’t seem to stop scoring as he eyes a second straight golden boot.

Head to Head

Sydney FC have a 15-10 advantage in the head-to-head with nine draws in 34 matches.

Melbourne City hung on to record a 3-2 win over Sydney in their last meeting. Forward Jamie Maclaren scored a brace while midfielder Adrian Luna also contributed on the scoresheet.

Sydney FC Form

Sydney FC have enjoyed an impressive month of form.

Despite a controversial 1-0 loss away to Adelaide United, the Sky Blues bounced back with a 3-0 win against Melbourne Victory.

Brazilian forward Bobo opened the scoring before ex-Victory winger Kosta Barbarouses doubled Sydney’s lead. Midfielder Alex Baumjohann sealed the win from the penalty spot late in the second half.

The Sky Blues then maintained this momentum with a 1-0 win against Perth. Barbarouses’ 54th minute goal was enough as Sydney recorded consecutive wins.

Sydney FC Team News

Forward Trent Buhagiar is expected to return from a knee injury.

Left back Michael Zullo is still out with a calf injury, while midfielder Chris Zuvela will miss the rest of the season with a knee problem.

Melbourne City Form

Melbourne City have solidified themselves as favourites for the championship after eight wins from their last nine.

City saw off Western Sydney at home in a 4-1 win. Despite conceding first, the home side piled on the goals with ex-Bolton winger Craig Noone and golden boot winner Jamie Maclaren scoring.

While their run came to an end against Western United in a 2-1 loss, City bounced back in the thrilling 3-2 win over Wellington.

Defender Curtis Good headed his first goal of the season, while Maclaren added to his tally right on half-time. Substitute Marco Tilio was the hero with his 83rd minute goal to win the match.

Melbourne City Team News

Midfielder Aiden O’Neill remains the only unfit player as he recovers from a back injury.
