Clinging onto a spot inside the top six on goal difference, this is a massive game in the context of Sydney's A-League campaign. Of course, Sydney are also in the AFC Champions League 2, but they are coming off a demoralising 2-0 defeat on Wednesday night away to Singapore side Lion City in what was extremely taxing conditions.
Ufuk Talay is expected to make some changes to his starting lineup, but you've got to think fatigue will be a factor come Saturday. Auckland meanwhile are flying high at the top of the table, losing just two of their 22 games for the season. The league leaders look solid value in the Double Chance market, while a draw also offers a tasty price considering Auckland have shared the spoils in four of their last five outings.
- Auckland are unbeaten in 20 of their 22 games this season
- Auckland have drawn four of their last five games
- Sydney have failed to win three of their last four games
- Sydney are coming off a 2-0 defeat to Lion City in Singapore on Wednesday night
Head To Head
Auckland came away with a 1-0 victory back in Round 2 in the only previous meeting between the teams.
Sydney FC Form
It's been a hectic season for Sydney, who have juggled their A-League campaign with Asian Champions League 2 commitments - and as it stands, they might miss out on both the finals and a maiden continental trophy.
Fortunately for Sydney, they gave themselves some breathing room with a thrilling 3-2 victory on the road against Adelaide last week, with Adrian Segecic scoring the winner in the 94th minute.
However, Sydney return to the A-League with their spirits down after suffering a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Lion City in the Champions League mid-week, despite dominating possession.
Sydney FC Team News
Sydney haven't announced their squad at the time of writing, but we can expect Talay to rotate his side after only a couple of days break from the Champions League.
Auckland FC Form
Auckland keep rolling along nicely as they target the minor premiership in their debut season in the A-League.
In saying that, Auckland have won six and drawn six games since January 1, with one defeat. It's a strong record, but Steve Corica will want his side to start closing out matches heading into the finals, where anything can happen.
Auckland haven't defeated a top six side since Western United in mid-February, while they've drawn four of their last five games - including a most-recent 1-1 result with the Wanderers at home last week.
Auckland FC Team News
No major injury concerns for Auckland, with only Marlee Francois in doubt.
Verdict
Auckland are tipped in the Double Chance market, with Sydney facing a quick turnaround from their loss in Singapore on Wednesday.
With four draws in their last five games, Auckland could be set for another share of the spoils here.
