Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast Mariners Tips & Predictions
Both sides may be all but out of finals contention, but it's set to be another explosive F3 derby when the Newcastle Jets welcome Central Coast Mariners to McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday night.

Reigning premiers Central Coast have enjoyed bragging rights in the derby over the last few seasons and they are great value to do more damage to their rivals at Turton Road here.
Newcastle were in the midst of their longest unbeaten run since 2005, but they've failed to win their last three games, losing 6-2 to Western United and 2-1 to Wellington in their last two home outings. The Mariners are unbeaten in 10 of the last 11 meetings between the teams, winning eight of those encounters. With the Jets playing group rocked by the news of Rob Stanton departing the club at season's end, they promptly lost to $4.40 outsiders Phoenix last week - and something similar could occur here.
The main plays for this game are all Mariners-related - Over 1.5 Team Goals, Double Chance and Outright Win in the H2H market.
- Mariners are unbeaten in 10 of the last 11 meetings
- Mariners have won eight of those meetings

Head To Head
As mentioned, the Mariners have dominated the derby lately, winning eight of the last 11 meetings - but the most-recent clash resulted in 2-2 draw in Gosford back in Round 17.
Newcastle Jets Form
The Jets appeared as if they were making an unlikely late charge for the finals after putting together a seven-match unbeaten streak for the first time since 2005.
However, as has been the case at Newcastle for a decade now, inner turmoil at the club has caused results on the field to suffer, with respected head coach Rob Stanton deciding to leave at season's end due to the club's inability to provide basic resources.
Newcastle's performances have regressed over the last few weeks, including a poor 2-1 defeat at home against Wellington last week.
Newcastle Jets Team News
No major injury news for the Jets, who are expected to field a similar line-up to the side that went down to Phoenix.
Central Coast Mariners Form
It's been a disappointing season for the Mariners after the club's stunning back-to-back Grand Final triumphs.
In saying that, it was always going to be near-impossible for a club like Central Coast to maintain dominance in the A-League, but they will be hoping to end the year on a positive note.
The Mariners haven't been too bad in their recent outings, drawing 2-2 away to league leaders Auckland and beating Perth Glory 3-1 before last week's 1-0 loss to in-form Melbourne City.
Central Coast Mariners Team News
Ryan Edmonson and Brad Tapp remain sidelined with injuries.
Verdict
The Mariners offer value in a number of markets here - backing the visitors Double Chance & H2H, along with scoring 2+ team goals against a demoralised Jets outfit.
