Reigning premiers Central Coast have enjoyed bragging rights in the derby over the last few seasons and they are great value to do more damage to their rivals at Turton Road here.

Newcastle were in the midst of their longest unbeaten run since 2005, but they've failed to win their last three games, losing 6-2 to Western United and 2-1 to Wellington in their last two home outings. The Mariners are unbeaten in 10 of the last 11 meetings between the teams, winning eight of those encounters. With the Jets playing group rocked by the news of Rob Stanton departing the club at season's end, they promptly lost to $4.40 outsiders Phoenix last week - and something similar could occur here.

As mentioned, the Mariners have dominated the derby lately, winning eight of the last 11 meetings - but the most-recent clash resulted in 2-2 draw in Gosford back in Round 17.

The Jets appeared as if they were making an unlikely late charge for the finals after putting together a seven-match unbeaten streak for the first time since 2005.

However, as has been the case at Newcastle for a decade now, inner turmoil at the club has caused results on the field to suffer, with respected head coach Rob Stanton deciding to leave at season's end due to the club's inability to provide basic resources.
