Melbourne City vs Brisbane Roar Tips

Melbourne City and striker Jamie Maclaren continue to dominate the A-League. They have a solid recent record against Brisbane who are in fine goalscoring form themselves.

I’m tipping over 3.5 goals, City to win and Maclaren to score.

  • Melbourne City have seen over 3.5 goals in their last 2 matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have won 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have won 4 of their last 6 matches against Brisbane (A-League).
  • City’s Jamie Maclaren has scored 22 goals this season (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have seen over 3.5 goals in 3 of their last 5 matches against City (A-League).

Head to Head

City have a 16-11 advantage in the head-to-head with six draws in 33 encounters.

Their last meeting saw City escape with a 1-0 win in Brisbane. Midfielder Connor Metcalfe scored the decisive goal in a tense affair at Dolphin Stadium.

Melbourne City Form

City sit six points clear with a game in hand on top of the table.

The league leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Macarthur who equalised soon after City’s Connor Metcalfe opened the scoring.

A 3-1 win against Newcastle followed with strikers Andrew Nabbout and Jamie Maclaren scoring, while captain Scott Jamieson also netted a rare goal.

City’s good form continued with a 3-1 win over Perth. Maclaren netted a double against his former side while Perth’s Luke Bodnar slotted an own goal.

Melbourne City Team News

Defender Nathaniel Atkinson is the only player out due to injury. The right-back is expected to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring problem.

City’s Jamie Maclaren has dominated the competition this season scoring 22 goals.

Brisbane Roar Form

Brisbane have turned their season around after several stellar performances.

The Roar went on a scoring spree as they defeated Central Coast 4-0 away from home. 21-year-old Alex Parsons scored his debut goal, while Japanese import Masato Kudo also netted his first in the A-League.

A goalless draw against Wellington in extremely wet conditions followed before they defeated Western United 2-1 at home.

Defender Josh Brindell-South equalised for the Roar, while Japanese import Riku Danzaki slotted home a dramatic winner in the 94th minute.

Brisbane Roar Team News

Defender Tom Aldred is out with a hamstring injury.
