Auckland need one more win to equal the 2006-07 Melbourne Victory team for most consecutive wins to launch a season, while City are confident following their 4-1 crushing of Brisbane last week.
- Auckland have seen Under 2.5 goals in five of their six games
- City have won three of their last four games
- This will be Auckland's first away game in Australia facing a team at their actual home ground
Head To Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Melbourne City Form
It's been a decent start to the season for City, with the team winning four of their six games to be sitting in fourth spot on the ladder.
Injuries to key Socceroos internationals Andrew Nabbout, Mathew Leckie and Marco Tilio have tested City's depth, but they have responded well to the adversity so far.
City's last two wins have been emphatic, with Aurelio Vidmar's side crushing Perth Glory 5-0 before last week's 4-1 thumping of Brisbane on the road.
Israeli striker Yonatan Cohen bagged himself a double to take his season tally to three goals.
Melbourne City Team News
Nabbout, Leckie and Tilio remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
Auckland FC Form
It's been an extraordinary start to the season for Auckland in making their A-League debut, with the club flying high at the top of the ladder with six wins from six games.
Auckland had kept a clean sheet in their previous five victories, but they conceded a late goal for the first time in the Kiwi Clasico last week against Wellington.
Nevertheless, Auckland still ran out 2-1 winners, recording their second derby triumph of the season over Wellington.
Five of Auckland's six outings have featured Under 2.5 goals, while this will be their first game on the road in Australia to face a team at their actual home ground, with their only other time crossing the Tasman seeing them face Macarthur at Allianz in Unite Round.
Auckland FC Team News
Auckland have no injuries to worry about and a full squad to choose from for this game.
Verdict
Auckland deserve all the accolades, but I do think they've benefitted from a kind early draw and they certainly haven't been dominating teams.
City on the road is probably their toughest test so far and the hosts are coming off a thumping win over Brisbane last week.
Under 2.5 goals is the best bet and I fancy City to snap Auckland's winning streak.
