Head to Head

Macarthur have a 1-0 record over the Phoenix with one draw from two encounters.

Their last meeting saw the Bulls pick up a 1-0 win on the road with midfielder Denis Genreau breaking the deadlock in the 65th minute.

Macarthur Form

Macarthur’s place inside the top six has been locked in.

The Bulls picked up a valuable point against Perth away from home in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Striker Matt Derbyshire found an equalising goal just before the break after the Glory opened the scoring early.

The Bulls then opened the scoring in their next match against Central Coast through Spaniard Markel Susaeta. But a strong second half showing from the Mariners saw them score twice and take the points in a 2-1 win.

Macarthur bounced back in style with a 2-1 win over Western United. Susaeta once again drew first blood, before captain Mark Milligan added a second before half time.

The Bulls withstood a late Western United come back to wrap up the points and qualification into the finals series.

Macarthur Team News

Defender Aleksander Jovanovic is in contention to return from a calf injury. Striker
Charles M’Mombwa made a successful return from injury in the win against Western United.

Captain Mark Milligan announced his retirement from professional football, with the former Socceroo set to hang up his boots at season’s end.

Wellington Phoenix Form

Wellington’s finals hopes rests on this match.

The Phoenix picked up a comprehensive 3-0 win over Western United on their return to New Zealand. Midfielder Clayton Lewis opened the scoring, before attackers Reno Piscopo and Tomer Hemed added second half goals.

Two set-piece goals scored by strikers David Ball and Hemed saw the Phoenix pick up a crucial 2-1 win away to Western Sydney. The win put Wellington within touching distance of the top six and dealt a major blow to the Wanderers’ finals hopes.

Wellington were then forced to share the points with Perth in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Hemed finished off a well-worked team goal to open the scoring, while fellow forward Jaushua Sotirio’s goal saw his side equalise after the Glory had taken the lead.

Phoenix captain Ulises Davila had the chance to win the match late but missed his 90th minute penalty.

Wellington Phoenix Team News

Defender Luke DeVere is a chance to return from a lengthy knee injury which has kept him out for 12 weeks.

Midfielder Reno Piscopo also made a successful return against Perth after a shoulder injury.
