A win for Macarthur could see them jump into outright second. The form of striker Matt Derbyshire has been impressive, while the Victory have failed to grind out results despite creating opportunities.

Head to Head

These two sides have only ever met once.

Macarthur picked up a 2-1 win with Spaniard Markel Susaeta and defender James Meredith scoring, after Victory’s Elvis Kamsoba gave his side the early lead.

Macarthur Form

Macarthur sit equal second on the table and are unbeaten in their last four matches.

The Bulls held league leaders Melbourne City to a 1-1 draw at home. After City took an early lead, Macarthur hit back through young forward Michael Ruhs in the 77th minute.

A goalless draw followed against Perth, with goalkeeper Adam Federici making several late saves to deny the Glory. Captain Mark Milligan also had an attempt saved off a corner in the 90th minute.

Macarthur would be rewarded for their persistence with a 2-1 win against Melbourne Victory. The Bulls fought from a goal down, with ex-Athletic Bilbao midfielder Markel Susaeta equalising before defender James Meredith headed home the winner.

Macarthur Team News

Macarthur will be without midfielder Tommy Oar due to injury, as well as defender Ivan Franjic who is out with a calf problem.

Striker Matt Derbyshire has been one of the recruits of the season with 11 goals in 2021.

Melbourne Victory Form

Despite the recovery of several key players, the Victory are winless in their last four matches.

A hard-fought point was earned away to Central Coast, with the Victory holding on for a 1-1 draw. Ex-Wigan winger Callum McManaman equalised in the 62nd minute after the Mariners opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

The Victory were unable to make the most of another home match as they went down 2-1 to Macarthur.

Forward Elvis Kamsoba opened the scoring but the side failed to hang on as the Bulls scored twice in the second half.

Another 2-1 loss followed, this time against Perth.

Victory striker Robbie Kruse missed the chance to give his side an early lead when his 25th minute penalty was saved. Defender Nick Ansell was then sent off, exacerbating the difficulty of the task at hand.

Striker Rudy Gestede managed to pull one back for the visitors but was too little too late.

Melbourne Victory Team News

Ansell will miss the match due to suspension, while winger Marco Rojas remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

Defender Ryan Shotton will also miss the match with a knee injury. Winger Callum McManaman will most likely sit out the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Verdict

Macarthur have been a strong outfit at home, with Derbyshire leading the lines superbly this season. They host a Victory side who have looked competitive but have a poor away record.

I’m tipping BTTS and Macarthur to win with Derbyshire to score.
