Macarthur vs Melbourne City Tips

City’s Jamie Maclaren can’t stop scoring at the moment. He has helped turn City into an attacking force, while Macarthur are also capable of netting several goals on their day as well.

I’m backing BTTS and over 3.5 goals with Maclaren to score.

  • Macarthur have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches (A-League).
  • Macarthur have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 home matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have won 7 of their last 9 matches (A-League).
  • City’s Jamie Maclaren has scored 19 goals in his last 14 matches (A-League).

Head to Head

These two sides have only ever met on the one occasion.

City picked up a 3-0 win earlier in the season with striker Jamie Maclaren scoring a brace and ex-Bolton winger Craig Noone also scoring.

Macarthur Form

While Macarthur have been winless in their last three, they have not had a shortage of goals.

After recording three straight wins, the Bulls went down 2-1 at home to Brisbane. Young winger Lachlan Rose scored his first goal for the club, albeit a consolation one on the night.

A 3-1 defeat to Adelaide followed before they were forced to share the points with Newcastle at home. Striker Charles M’Mombwa scored his debut goal while French import Loic Puyo also added his name to the scoresheet.

Macarthur Team News

Defender Aleksander Jovanovic is out with a calf injury, while right-back Ivan Franjcic will also miss with a calf problem.

Melbourne City Form

Melbourne City are flying high atop of the A-League table.

Playing away to Wellington, City escaped with a 3-2 win in a thrilling encounter. Young forward Marco Tilio’s debut goal for the club proved to be the winner when he slotted the ball past Wellington’s goalkeeper in the 83rd minute.

A 98th minute penalty converted by striker Jamie Maclaren saw City escape with a point in their 1-1 draw with Sydney FC away from home.

City then recorded their greatest ever win when they dismantled rivals Melbourne Victory 7-0. Maclaren starred with five goals, while ex-Victory winger Andrew Nabbout also scored against his former club.

Melbourne City Team News

Nathaniel Atkinson is City’s only injury with the right-back set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

Verdict

Jamie Maclaren is a certainty to win the Golden Boot at this point. Macarthur are also capable of scoring plenty with several goalscoring options in their team.

I’m tipping BTTS and a City win with Maclaren to score.
