Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory Tips
Both sides have shown how lethal they can be up front, while being just as likely to concede. I’m backing BTTS with this one seeing over 2.5 goals.

- Adelaide United have seen over 2.5 goals in 2 of their last 3 matches against Melbourne Victory (A-League).

Head to Head
These two sides have met 58 times with Melbourne Victory holding a 27-19 record, with 12 draws played.
A 90th minute goal from forward Andrew Nabbout sealed an emphatic 2-1 win for the Victory the last time these two sides met. Before this meeting, Adelaide United had won their four previous matches against the Victory.
Adelaide United Form
After a goalless draw to start the season against Western United, the Reds only had to wait another week to pick up their first win.
A 2-0 win over Melbourne City courtesy of second half goals to striker Tomi Juric and midfielder Stefan Mauk got Adelaide going in 2021. The Reds were then forced into a 17 day break before travelling to Perth to face the Glory.
Adelaide went down 5-3 in their midweek match. The Reds saw the score the stretch out to 5-1 in the 84th minute before forwards Mohammed Toure and Ben Halloran pulled two goals back late in the match.
The Reds have now seen BTTS in five of their last seven, as well as over 2.5 goals in three of their last six.
Adelaide Team News
Midfielder Stefan Mauk missed the last match with a calf injury and is unlikely to return given the quick turnaround between games.
Likewise, defender Ryan Strain has been sidelined with a groin issue, while Spanish import Javi Lopez will miss with a knee injury.
Ex-Schalke defender George Timotheou made his debut off the bench in the last match. Given the short turnaround, the 23-year-old will be a chance to start.
Melbourne Victory Form
Melbourne Victory came into this season full of optimism after making the last 16 in the AFC Champions League.
Though their start to the season was not so promising, ending in a 3-1 defeat to Brisbane Roar at home. Despite ex-Wigan winger Callum McManaman equalising with a wonder goal, the Victory were unable to stop a second half Brisbane onslaught.
This has been the only match the Victory have played so far in the A-League this season.
The Victory have looked shaky in defence in their last few matches. They have seen over 2.5 goals in their last three matches as well as BTTS in three of their last four.
Victory Team News
The extended break could be somewhat of a blessing for Melbourne Victory.
Former Middlesbrough defender Ryan Shotton is set to make his debut for the club, while striker Rudy Gestede is also in contention to make his first start.
Despite injuring his hamstring last time out, the break has been kind to winger Marco Rojas who is in contention to play.
