A struggling Waratahs outfit travel to Brisbane to face the Reds in the Super Rugby AU opener on Friday 3 July at the Suncorp Stadium. The hosts were impressive for their inexperienced stature in the 2020 Super Rugby while the Tahs' were nothing short of abmysal.

Whether this changes after the break remains to be seen but the Waratahs have lost Australian international, Kurtley Beale who has been released from his contract.

Reds Form & Team News

The young Reds showed some promise prior to the pandemic-enforced break and despite two wins from their seven matches did enjoy some success.

They lost to an impressive Sharks side before running the Crusaders close in a 24-20 defeat in Chirstchurch.

In their final fixture they annihilated the traveling Bulls side 41-17 at the Suncorp Stadium after being 17-0 down at the break. The Reds scored 41 unanswered points in what was an impressive showing.

The Reds have unfortunately had to say goodbye to three talented young players as contract negotiation problems saw Izack Rodda, Harry Hockings and Isaac Lucas terminate their contract with the Reds.

Waratahs Form & Team News

The Waratahs lost six of their seven matches in the 2020 Super Rugby before the enforced break. There was little to be positive about for the Sydney-based outfit and I'm not sure much has changed during the last three months.

Their matches before the break saw them get thrashed 51-14 at home to the Chiefs  before getting a  29-17 victory at home over a poor Lions outfit.

The Tahs' final fixture prior to the break saw them visit the Brumbies at GIO Stadium. The hosts scored seven tries on their way to destroying the Waratahs 47-14.

Kurtley Beale will not be returning for the Super Rugby AU as he has been released early from his contract. It will be a massive blow for the team because of his experience and ability.

Reds vs Waratahs Head to Head

The Waratahs hold a 15-4 advantage over the Reds in their last 19 fixtures. Their previous clash saw the Reds lose 40-32 at Suncorp Stadium.

Reds vs Waratahs Odds

The odds for the match are yet to be released but we will update you as soon as they become available.

Reds vs Waratahs Match Up

Despite both teams struggling this season it is the Reds who have been putting in promising performances, most notably against the Crusaders. The Waratahs have however struggled for any cohesion and it is doubtful the break would have fixed that.

Verdict

The odds for this match is not yet available but I fancy the Reds to pull off a narrow win on home soil.
