Italy vs England Tips
Italy come into the 2024 Six Nations looking to banish memories of their comfortable 60-7 loss to France at the 2023 World Cup, with this their last outing.

- England Form
England downed Argentina in a hard-fought 26-23 win back in October, with this their last international outing.
Head To Head
England have won their last 10 meetings in a row with Italy, although the gap between the pair has been shrinking. In the 2023 Six Nations, England only won by 17 points in a 31-14 triumph. Indeed, England's biggest winning margin against the Italians in their last five has been 37 points.
Italy Form
Italy have been closing the gap on the rest of the sides in the Six Nations in recent years, with results nowhere near as crushing as they once were. However, the 2023 Six Nations still saw the Italians lose all five of their outings as they picked up the wooden spoon once again.
Following their losing campaign, Italy were then knocked out in the group-stage of the World Cup. While most saw this coming as soon as they were paired with France and New Zealand, it was the manner of their defeats that frustrated most, with the side losing 96-17 to New Zealand and 60-7 to France.
The Italians need a big result in the Six Nations, or the talk about their position in the competition will intensify. While Italy will target a much-changed English side, they are still so far behind their opponents that it is tough to see the home side really troubling them.
England Form
England come into the Six Nations without Owen Farrell as the England captain decided to step back from international rugby as he looks to prioritise his mental health.
This move from the fly-half has seen hooker Jamie George become captain as Steve Borthwick utilises a number of uncapped players. The inclusion of Exeter's Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on the bench will excite many fans, but will the bronze-medal winners move away from their kick-chase tactics?
If England want to play rugby, then they have the players to do so. George Ford will provide a true play-making presence at 10, and it will be interesting to see whether England choose to use their opening game to really push the boat out with the ball in hand.
Verdict
I am backing England to win this one as Jamie George barrels over for a try from the back of a rolling maul.
