Ireland arrive for their third game of the 2024 Six Nations on course for a Grand Slam crown after winning their opening two matches.

By contrast, Wales are in danger of securing the wooden spoon this year, with the side currently without a win after two matches.

Head To Head

Ireland have won seven of their last 10 matches against Wales, with the Welsh winning three times over the last seven years.

Ireland Form

Ireland have been brilliant across their Six Nations campaign so far, with two try-bonus point wins over France and Italy.

While their home win over Italy was one everyone saw coming, their opening win over France on the road once again put their power and ability on show. The synergy between forwards and backs is seeing Ireland scoring tries and keeping the opposition out.

Wales arrive looking to ruffle Ireland's feathers, but the home side know they have a better team 1-15 then their opponents. Their scrum should dominate, they are more physical and their backs have been supreme with and without the ball. This could be yet another statement try bonus point win for the home side.

Wales Form

Wales have struggled to put together a full 80 minute performance this term, with the side losing their first two matches.

Trailing 20-0 at half-time against Scotland, Wales should have been played off the park in the second-half. As it was, Scotland took their foot off the gas and edged to a 27-26 win. Against England, Wales battled hard, but they lacked the relevant incision with ball in hand to hurt their hosts and win the game.

This week, Wales need their big players to step up. Particularly important will be backrow Tommy Reffell, The Leicester Tigers' forward is supreme over the ball and will be tasked with forcing Ireland into giving away penalties on the floor. Clawing positional advantage on the pitch is vital for Wales as they need to ensure they are not playing in the wrong areas.

While I do believe that Reffell will have an impact on the ground, I believe the quality of opposition will mean that this young Welsh side is given a lesson on the pitch.

I am backing Ireland to crush Wales this weekend as they edge to within two wins of another Grand Slam crown.
