The 2023 Bledisole Cup is almost upon us, with the first clash between Australia and New Zealand taking place on the final weekend of the Rugby Championship.

Ahead of the cup, find out when and where the two games will be played in 2023.

2023 Bledisole Cup Fixtures & Schedule

Game 1 - Australia vs New Zealand - July 29, 19:45 AEST - MCG

Game 2 - New Zealand vs Australia - August 5 - 12:35 AEST
The 2023 Bledisloe Cup will be played out across July and August this year, with matches played in Australia at the MCG and in New Zealand at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The Bledisloe Cup has been played a total of 154 times, with New Zealand dominating the meetings by winning 110 times. Meanwhile, Australia have won 37 times, while there have been seven draws.

Frustratingly for the Aussies, they are without a win in their last five matches with the All Blacks, with New Zealand dominating their opponents.

This time round, Eddie Jones will be looking to lead his side to victory ahead of the World Cup in France later in the year. However, Jones saw his Australian side humbled in a 43-12 defeat at the hands of South Africa, with this seeing their start under Jones end in a heavy defeat.

For New Zealand, they will see the Bledisloe Cup as the perfect opportunity to head towards the Rugby World Cup with wins under their belt. They take on South Africa in the Rugby Championship before their double header with Australia, with the first game in the Rugby Championship, while the second match happens outside of the championship.

For Australia, a single win in the Cup would be a major result, although it does not feel hugely likely. Perhaps strong performances that they can build on are far more likely, with this World Cup coming too soon for a Wallabies side that are still someway short of the best sides in the world.

Meanwhile, for New Zealand, not winning this series would be a huge failure. The Aussies have been massively inconsistent of late, and while they have given sides a good go, they have also lost games they should have won, such as their 28-27 loss to Italy last year.

With the World Cup edging closer, confidence in New Zealand's ability to win the World Cup will take a major blow if they fail to win the Bledisloe Cup in 2023.
