Australia vs France Tips
France showed in the 1st Test that they can compete despite their second string lineup. I am tipping them to once again get within nine points of their hosts.
- Australia have won 2 of their last 8 matches.
- Australia have not covered the -9 handicap in their last 10 matches against top tier opposition.
- Australia beat France 23-21 in the 1st Test.
- France have won 8 of their last 13 matches.
Head to Head
Australia have won 10 of their last 12 matches against France. The Wallabies have not lost at home to France in their last 12 matches, a run that began back in 1990.
In the 1st Test of this series Australia snatched a late 23-21 victory against France.
After an inconsistent 2020, Australia were looking for a strong start to 2021. France was always going to be a tough proposition and were the visitors at full strength, Australia would have been underdogs.
In the 1st Test at the Suncorp Stadium Australia were rusty, as can be expected. They started poorly and France pounced on their mistakes to take an early lead.
Gradually the Wallabies grew in the game without ever taking full control. By the end they were fortunate to get a last-gasp 23-21 victory.
Australia Team News
Dave Rennie has made just one change to his starting lineup. Prop Taniela Tupoi has been promoted from the bench to take the place of Allan Alaalatoa.
France will be over the moon with their performance in the 1st Test while at the same time extremely disappointed.
Despite having a severely weakened team, France took full advantage of Australia’s errors early on in the match. Even when Australia started to dominate, the French never really looked in too much trouble.
On the scoreboard it got tight but the visitors held firm on defence. That was until the hooter had gone and all they needed to do was win a lineout and put the ball into touch.
Unfortunately the lineout was scrappy, Australia turned the ball over and won a penalty in front of the uprights to win 23-21.
France Team News
France head coach Fabien Galthie has made five changes to his side from the 1st Test. All five changes are in the pack.
Prop Wilfrid Hounkpatin and lock Pierre-Henri Azagoh both come into the side to make their debuts. In the back-row they are joined by Cameron Woki and Ibrahim Diallo. To complete an all new lock partnership, Cyril Cazeaux also starts.

What time does Australia vs France kick off?
The 2nd Test is being played at 8:00pm AEDT at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Tuesday, July 13.
France are tipped to lose by less than nine points after narrowly losing the 1st Test. Considering the last minute defeat last time out, an upset win is not off the table for the visitors.
