Queensland Premier Rugby is a non-professional rugby union competition that is played in Queensland in Australia. With nine clubs battling for supremacy, only one hails from the Gold Coast, with the other eight coming from Brisbane.

The Premiership has been contested since 1929, and the competition has a rich history. Every single one of the current sides has won at least one Premiership with the exception of Bond University who, having been established back in 2014, are yet to win the competition.

This just shows how competitive things have been in the tournament, with any of the sides that will turn out across the season feeling that they have every chance of winning the competition.

At the other end of the trophy-winning scale, the University of Queensland have won the most Premierships, winning 33 times. Brothers have the second most Premierships with 28 wins, and they will be looking to close the gap on the University of Queensland this season.

Last season, it was the University of Queensland that lifted the trophy in a comfortable 29-12 win over GPS Old Boys. This win saw the side avenge their 33-18 loss to Eastern Districts in the year before, and it continued an incredible tradition that has seen the University of Queensland contest every final since 2016, with the side winning three and coming in as runners-up in three.

This year, Ladbrokes predict that the University of Queensland will notch yet another title, and they are $3.00 to do just that. There are a number of teams with only slightly longer odds though, with Eastern Districts ($4.50), GPS Old Boys and Brothers (both $5.00) also fancied this year.

Despite being the only side without a Premiership (largely due to the fact they were established in 2014), Bond University come in next at $8.00. Western Districts are $10.00, while way out as the underdogs are Southern Districts ($51.00), Sunnybank ($81.00) and Northern Districts ($101.00).

This year's competition will be a very tight one if the betting odds are to be believed. All of the sides offer some value, but it is difficult to really look away from the University of Queensland, who are the most successful side in the competition and have contested all six of the last Grand Finals.
