The superbly bred Greece has justified an odds-on quote via her Geelong resumption, with the Maher & Eustace-trained three-year-old recording a dominant four-length maiden win on Thursday.
A $1.2 million yearling purchase at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, this full sister to two-time Group One winning sprinter Loving Gaby was spruiked ahead of her debut in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes on March 5.
Starting as a second market behind Russian Conquest on that occasion, the daughter of I Am Invincible finished last in a field of six at Randwick, but there were excuses, with the filly failing to handle a Heavy 10 surface, while she also showed signs of heat stress post-race.
Tipped out immediately after that first start and given time to mature, Greece was sent straight to the front by Jamie Kah from barrier 10, where she dictated before pulling away late.
"I actually galloped her before she ran in Sydney, and got off and went wow, what is this? It gave me the feel of a star," Kah said.
"Obviously she failed on the heavy tracks, but she's been going well and Ciaron has done the right thing by waiting for a nice track, and you could see the talent she had today.
"She's a monster of a filly, but has a good mindset at the moment, is a professional to ride and will go a long way this spring.
"Once she's back on these sorts of tracks, sky is the limit for her, she's obviously got the pedigree and the breeding, but she's putting it together nicely on the track now too."
