Home Affairs recorded one of the more stylish displays on Derby Day, 2021 when bolting in with the Coolmore Stud Stakes and has returned to the trials on Thursday, winning a star-studded 800m heat at Warwick Farm.

The Group One winning colt led throughout under Jay Ford, with Maximal trailing early and the three-quarter brother to Frankel was just passed late by Icebath, who won the inaugural running of 'The Invitation' last spring before a narrow defeat in the Cantala Stakes.

Australian Oaks winner Hungry Heart was the next of the Chris Waller runners past the post, holding off talented colt Military Expert, while progressive sprinter Quantico was working to the line comfortably late.

Although it was somewhat of a bunched finish for the first six home, middle distance/staying runners brought up the final four, which included Think It Over and 10-time Group One winning champion Verry Elleegant, who was making her first public appearance since winning the 2021 Melbourne Cup.

Verry Elleegant is aiming towards a return in the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 12, a race that she has contested first-up via her last two summer/autumn campaigns.
This 800m Warwick Farm heat on January 20 was completed in an overall time of 49.06 on a Soft 7 surface, with a last 600m of 34.96.
