With his first venture past a mile in Wednesday's Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes (2063m), all eyes were on Baaeed in the day one feature of the 2022 Ebor Festival.

There was never a worry for the world's highest rated horse, however, with the brilliant Shadwell entire handling the distance rise with ease to remain unbeaten from 10 starts.

Ryan Moore set the early tempo aboard 40/1 outsider High Definition and despite last year's Juddmonte winner Mishriff hitting the front in the run home, Jim Crowley had a lap full of horse in transit, before the favourite unleashed with his customary turn-of-foot over the last furlong to win by 6.5 lengths.

An ecstatic Jim Crowley spoke following the 50th running of the Juddmonte International Stakes.

"He's got everything. He's the perfect racehorse. I'll never find another horse like this again. He's as good as the greats." said Crowley.
William Haggas had no doubts about the distance for Baaeed, with the winning trainer interviewed by Racing TV post-race.

"Fabulous, wasn't it? And he may have answered the critics, well those few that criticised him," said Haggas.

"He was cantering and the best bit was when Jim (Crowley) went through between them and didn't light the horse up."

"I'm just lucky."
Baaeed will now likely contest the Group 1 Champion Stakes (2012m) at Ascot, which will be run on Saturday, October 16.
