Making his first steps towards a racetrack return following a spine injury, Alligator Blood has won a trial over 1000m ahead of a likely first-up tilt in the Listed Goldmarket (1200m) at the Gold Coast on August 27.
Named the 'Queensland Thoroughbred Racehorse of the Year' in 2020, the same year which saw him eventually stripped of his Magic Millions 3yo Classic crown, the now five-year-old is trained by Bill Healey on the Sunshine Coast.
A proposed shift to the Waterhouse & Bott stable didn't eventuate for the 2020 Australian Guineas winner, remaining under the care of Healey who was preparing the gelding ahead of the expected move to Sydney.
Under David Vandyke who announced last November that he wouldn't train the son of All Too Hard following a dispute between owners, the gelding won nine of 15 starts and over $1.8 million in prize money with the 2020 Golden Eagle being his last outing.
Alligator Blood is expected to travel south following the August 27 run, with Glen Boss booked to ride over the 2021 Melbourne Spring Carnival.
