2019 Australian Derby winner Angel Of Truth will now campaign for the training operation of Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes.
Most famously prepared by Gwenda Markwell who trained the son of Animal Kingdom to all five career victories which included feature wins in the Group Two Tulloch Stakes in 2019 before romping in with the Group One Australian Derby seven days later under jockey Corey Brown, Angel Of Truth will now technically be at his fifth stable overall with Brooke Summers, David Payne and Joe Pride listed as trainers before heading to Markwell.
When speaking to the Illawarra Mercury, owner Ross Williams indicated the run of outs ultimately made the decision to switch from Markwell to Team Hawkes.
"I've given Gwenda two goes, she hasn't given me a win out of those two," Williams said.
"For a nice horse like him, I'd be silly if I didn't give the horse a chance with somebody else.
"I don't know if we'll go to Melbourne. Once he puts some bulk on, he'll be able to compete at shorter distances and build up from there.
"I can't rule out the Caulfield Cup. As a five-year-old, he'll probably get a lower weight than he had before and he wasn't ridden properly last year. Aiming high, at the moment my aim is the Caulfield Cup."
Angel Of Truth has won more than $1.5 million in prize money from his 19 career start to date with his last win coming in that 2019 Australian Derby triumph.
