Rothfire wins second trial
- Star galloper Rothfire has won his second trial back from a spell at Doomben
- He defeated Group One place getter Jonker over 1000m

Rothfire has once again caught the eye at the trials ahead of his return to the races with a win over Jonker via a 1000m heat at Doomben.
This trial victory was the second of his campaign, after bolting in his first in August 3 at Doomben, where he comfortably broke 56 seconds.
The son of Rothesay ran 57.91s for the five furlong journey in soft 5 conditions, with his final 600 metres coming in 33.51s.
As a three-year-old, Rothfire had claimed a spot in The Everest after winning the Run To The Rose, asserting his favouritism in the Golden Rose, a feature in which he fractured a sesamoid bone in.
There are still seven slots available in The Everest, with The Shorts on September 18 being a key race in regards to selection, especially for this returning gelding.
