Four-time Hong Kong champion jockey Zac Purton is set to return from injury via the January 12 meeting from Happy Valley.

The Australian hoop suffered fractures to the ribs, nose and wrist in a horror fall on Lucky Patch in the Hong Kong Sprint on December 12, which unfortunately resulted in Naboo Attack and Amazing Star both having to be euthanized.

With the lay-off, Joao Moriera has established a lead of nine over Purton in the Hong Kong Champion Jockey Premiership for 2021/2022, a title he wrestled back last season when riding 157 winners to Purton's 125.

In what has been already been a strong Hong Kong rivalry among the riding ranks, either Purton or the 'Magic Man' can bring up a fifth Hong Kong Jockey Premiership at end of this season, meaning yet another good battle looms.
Purton has seven rides at Happy Valley on Wednesday, with the first coming in the opener aboard the David Hayes-trained Red Impact, a gelding that arrives to the January 12 card off a hat-trick of placings.
