A winning double to Zac Purton at Sha Tin on Sunday has increased his lead to four in the 2019/2020 Hong Kong Jockey Premiership.
The Australian hoop got on the board early courtesy of a very soft victory aboard the Frankie Lor-trained Winning Brew who at just start number two, put a big space on his rivals in the Garnet Handicap (Race Two).
Purton completed the double in the seventh from Sha Tin via a perfectly timed steer on Regency Master with the three-year-old son of Savabeel recording his first win in Hong Kong.
Rival Joao Moreira was able to peg back the overall score to 132-128 in the last event of the June 21 program with victory on the short favourite Good Luck Friend for trainer Ricky Yiu.
Riding honors for the day belonged to neither Purton or Moreira, however, with a winning treble to Karis Teetan bringing up an equal best Hong Kong season of 84 winners for the Mauritian rider who is comfortably holding on to third place in the Hong Kong Jockey rankings.
Seven meetings remain in the 2019/2020 Hong Kong Racing Season with the next program scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 from Happy Valley.
