The International Jockeys' Championship for 2021 will be contested at Happy Valley on Wednesday, December 8 and with Australian borders re-opening, Damian Lane and James McDonald will take part in the series.

They'll compete against Hong Kong's leading riders in Zac Purton, who is looking to defend his IJC crown from last year and the 'Magic Man' Joao Moreira, a four-time Hong Kong Champion jockey who won this series in 2012.

Dual IJC winner Ryan Moore will go around again, with the talented young couple of Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle also representing Britain.

2019 World All-Star Jockey's Champion Yuga Kawada rode Loves Only You to victory earlier this month, handing Japan their first Breeders' Cup win.

The champion Japanese hoop is sure to have plenty of support in the 2021 International Jockeys' Championship.

Three-time South Africa Champion Jockey Lyle Hewitson will make his first IJC appearance in 2021.

The scoring system for The International Jockeys' Championship awards 12 points for the win, six for second and four for coming third, and the jockey with the most points after the four events will be crowned as the champion

The IJC winner also collects HK$500,000 (around $88,000 AUD) for first place.
Attention will then turn towards the Longines Hong Kong International Races on Sunday, December 12 where local and international stars meet at Sha Tin for a massive day of racing, highlighted by the Hong Kong Sprint (1200m), Hong Kong Mile (1600m), Hong Kong Cup (2000m) and the Hong Kong Vase (2400m).
