Kinane Will Skip The South Australian Derby
Promising three-year-old Kinane will not be participating in the Group One South Australian Derby at Morphettville this Saturday.
An impressive last-start winner of the Frank Packer Plate at only his fourth career outing, the Chris Waller-trained gelding will instead venture north for the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
A media release from Chris Waller Racing stated that Kinane will be better suited to the northern state features at this stage of his career.
"Kinane is fit and well however we believe the 2500m this early in his career, is going to come up a bit quick and there is no rush with him.
"He will therefore not go to South Australia, and most likely trial at Rosehill on Friday, with the plan being to give him one or two runs during the Brisbane Winter Carnival before spelling him and focusing on the spring."
Connections of Kinane have recently knocked back massive overseas offers for this gelding with as much as a $2.8 million Hong Kong offer reportedly turned down.
