Horses For The Blackbook - Makybe Diva Stakes Day
Justin Darcy has recapped the meeting at Flemington and has found the three horses he would like to follow from the program.

Could Mr Quickie be the best middle distance/stayer in Australia?
Horses To Follow From The 2019 Makybe Diva Stakes
Flemington Race 1 - Caliburn
This galloper should have caught most people's eye in the first race.
He was tailed off out the back of the field, a long way from the leader but has rattled home with the fastest sectionals of the race including a 22.57 last 400m and 11.51 last 200m.
He finished just under a length from the winner in what was just his first Australian racing start. His next start looks likely to be The Bart Cummings whee I am expecting him to go very close to winning the race.
A Melbourne Cup does not look out of the picture either. He seems like the 3200m would be up his alley and his sectionals are what win races for stayer - an elite turn of foot I would call it.
Follow him into his next start.
Likely Target: The Bart Cummings
Flemington Race 3 - Missile Mantra
If this was not a horror watch I don't know what was. Held up at crucial stages and she finished with the second fastest closing splits of the race.
1400m looks a pet distance for her, where they can still gallop at a genuine tempo in front and she can use that turn of foot that she possesses.
I would not be surprised to see her take on the Thousand Guineas prelude in a fortnight's time where she will be hard to beat with even luck.
Missile Mantra will meet some proper Group One contenders in that race but this will show whether she has that extra ability to win a Thousand Guineas over a mile.
I will be following her into the race if that is where she heads.
Likely Target: Thousand Guineas Prelude
Flemington Race 7 - Mr Quickie
His runs speaks for itself in what was a phenomenal return to the races.
He has taken the step up from his three-year-old year to open class with genuine majors contenders.
He has closed off with the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the entire race meeting, breaking 22 seconds for the last 400m and breaking 11 seconds for the last 200m. That is pure speed.
Mr Quickie will step up in trip and progress to the Caulfield Cup where he is now the outright $10 favourite.
His next target could be the Underwood Stakes in a fortnight before the Caulfield Stakes and fourth up into the Caulfield Cup.
Likely Target: Caulfield Cup
