The October 13 Hong Kong program from Happy Valley will not proceed due to the ongoing Gale and Storm Signal No.8 for Typhoon Kompasu.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club have released the following statement on Wednesday:
"The Hong Kong Jockey Club, having considered the hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 8 and adverse weather conditions, under which there would be difficulties for horse movement and transportation of 8000 employees required to report duty at the race meeting, decides to cancel tonight’s race meeting (13 October) at the Happy Valley Racecourse.
"We plan to seek approval by the Hong Kong SAR Government in accordance with established procedures to hold a race meeting on 29 December, 2021."
Hong Kong has also suspended schools and the city’s $6.3 trillion stock market cancelled trading on Wednesday due to strong winds and rain from the typhoon.
No decision has yet been made on whether the Sha Tin meeting for Sunday, October 17 will go ahead.
