Blake Shinn has been cleared to resume trackwork and trials, with Australia's leading jockey for season 2024/25 planning a return to race riding at Sandown on Wednesday, July 9.
Heavy bone bruising to his left foot sidelined the star hoop for the last five weeks and it put an early end to his Brisbane Carnival after saluting on both Antino and War Machine via the Doomben Cup Day meeting (May 24).
Shinn confirmed the good news in a statement released on X.
"Following consultation with Dr Ben Barassi of Racing Victoria, I'm pleased to announce that I've received medical clearance to return to trackwork/trials", Shinn said.
"I then plan to return to race riding on Wednesday, July 9th at Sandown.
"Since sustaining my injury, I've committed fully to the rehabilitation process. This dedication has allowed me to return ahead of schedule — something I'm genuinely excited about.
"This time away has also allowed me to have an impromptu holiday, which has ultimately given me the mental and psychical break my body needed.
"Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support and well wishes during this time. I'm now looking forward to getting back in the saddle and finishing the season strong."
With 150 wins, Blake Shinn is currently 2 ½ victories clear of William Pike in the Australian Jockey's Premiership race, while Shinn is also leading both the Victorian Metro Premiership and the Victorian Jockey Premiership.
His main threat in the Victorian Metro Premiership is Craig Williams, who is eight wins behind Shinn and after being suspended for careless riding in the Stradbroke Handicap, Williams is also due to return next week.
