All Star Mile 2020 Final Field Released
Racing Victoria has announced the wildcard horses for this year's All Star Mile with popular veteran Black Heart Bart gaining an entry into the race.
Fierce Impact and Superstorm were the other two horses to find their way into the second ever running of the race after Streets Of Avalon and Fifty Stars earned their positions with qualifying race wins.
Fifty Stars is yet to be a confirmed starter however, with co-trainer David Hayes stating they plan to run the horse in Saturday's Group One Australian Cup before deciding on the $5 million feature on March 14.
With the field finalised all eyes will be on the main contenders in the market, including fan favourite Alligator Blood.
The David Vandyke-trained gelding delivered a powerful performance to dispatch his rivals in the Group One Australian Guineas on the weekend but the trainer admitted he'd be "quick to pull the pin" if his star galloper showed any signs of fatigue heading into the All Star Mile.
Vandyke said if the All Star Mile was off the table Alligator Blood would already be enjoying a spell.
"Obviously I will be quick to pull the pin (if he's not 100 per cent) especially considering he's won a Magic Millions, he's won a Group One, he's won three Group Threes and a Listed race all this preparation really.
"In most other eras there is no All-Star Mile and he wins a Group I after a long preparation and he would go to the paddock - end of section.
"But now we've got this wonderful lure ahead of us."
