When will Boris Johnson officially leave the post of UK Prime Minister?

As the Dominic Cummings scandal rumbles on in the United Kingdom over his actions during the coronavirus lockdown, political betting analysts believe that Prime Minister Boris Johnson's chances of surviving with his authority intact are diminishing rapidly.

Sportsbet have brought Johnson's price into $4.00 to leave his position at some stage during the remainder of 2020.

It is still odds on that he has some longevity in his role heading up the UK government though, although it has drifted out to $1.40 that his time as PM will come to end in 2022 or later.

Sportsbet make it $8.00 that he will depart in 2021.

On Sunday, special adviser Dominic Cummings’s importance to Mr Johnson was evident when the PM fended off calls for his aide to resign following reports that he broke the government’s coronavirus lockdown rules by travelling 264 miles to his family home.

But in backing Cummings, Johnson might have misread the anger in the country, that a member BoJo's inner circle could flout the lockdown rules.

The concern amongst Tory MPs now is that Johnson is eroding political goodwill fast and that this will result in him becoming a political liability rather than a unifying "man of the people" PM, which Britain sorely needs in admist the Covid-19 epidemic and the preparations for Brexit.

Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has questioned BoJo's leadership and judgement in the first of an expected series of assaults by Labour on the PM's competence and ability to govern without Cummings.
