Ahead of the men's competition in Paris in 2024, the USA arrive as the big favourites at $1.25 with Betfair. Can anyone stop them from securing the gold and the bragging rights in France?

The USA arrive for the 2024 Olympics as the massive favourites to secure the gold in the basketball. The nation is priced at $1.25 with Betfair to ensure the basketball mad country is given the medal they crave. 

Canada are next in line at $10.00, with the likes of France, Serbia and Germany all vying for position. Ultimately though, the odds favour the USA heading into the competition, with the rest of the nations all falling a long way behind.

This is no wonder when the USA have been able to dominate the men's basketball competition at the Olympics. In 2020 they did they secured a total of three out of four golds. These came in the men's, women's and 3x3 women's games, with the only iteration of the sport they failed to secure gold in coming in the men's 3x3. 

France finished second and secured silver in the men's competition in 2020, and they will be desperate to go one step further this time. 

The hosts of the 2024 games will have the crowd right behind them and this could prove to be a major factor in their search for gold in the event. 

While the USA are the hot-favourites ahead of the competition, they have painted a real target on their backs. Every nation at the event will relish the chance to beat them and ensure a different side wins gold this year.
