Wests Tigers vs Manly Sea Eagles Tips

Manly have won their last two games, while the Tigers has lost three in a row - although they were dramatically improved last weekend in very nearly beating competition heavyweights South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Manly kept the Titans scoreless last weekend, the first time they’ve kept a side to nil since Round 2, 2018. This one should have plenty of points for both sides with Manly just edging it..

  • Wests Tigers have lost their last 3 matches.
  • Wests Tigers have seen 11 of the last 12 games against Manly Sea Eagles reach at least 40 total match points scored.
  • Manly Sea Eagles have won their last 2 matches.
  • Manly's Tom Trbojevic has scored a try against every NRL side except the Wests Tigers.

Head-to-Head

The Wests Tigers dominate the recent head to head record with five of the last six games between these sides going their way.

Overall though, Manly holds a slender lead, winning 16 games to the Tigers' 14. This will be the first time that they meet at Bankwest Stadium.

The Tigers have a 30.77% success rate at Bankwest, while Manly have played their twice and lost both times.

Wests Tigers Form

The Wests Tigers played their two biggest bogey sides in recent times in the opening two rounds, and continued their losing form against each in going down to Canberra Raiders 30-12 and the Sydney Roosters 40-6.

Wests produced a better effort against the Newcastle Knights to win 24-20 in Round 3, and were spirited in their 36-22 loss to Parramatta the following week.

In Round 5, Wests were miserable against the North Queenland Cowboys, other than a six minute period in the second-half where they scored 14 points before ultimately losing 34-30.

Tigers responded strongly last weekend, taking the highly fancied Souths Sydney Rabbitohs to golden point before losing 18-14.

Wests Tigers Team News

Just two changes to the Tigers side this week from the line-up that played Souths last weekend.

Michael Chee Kam will play at centre, replacing Asu Kepaoa who will be out for the rest of the year with a knee injury. Thomas Mikaele has been replaced on the bench by Alex Seyfarth.

Joey Leilua and Shawn Blore are both available to play after recovering from injuries, however it looks like both will be given an extra week.

Russell Packer is the only other injured player – he is expected to return in Round 10.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Manly had a horror start, both injury wise and results wise as they lost their opening four games, all quite convincingly too.

In Round 1 they were belted by the Roosters 46-4. Then they lost to Souths 26-12, the Dragons 38-12 and Penrith who thumped them 46-6.

Manly then sprung somewhat of an upset in Round 5, to beat the New Zealand Warriors 13-12. Last weekend they welcomed back Tom Trbojevic, who helped his side rack up an impressive 36-0 win over the Gold Coast Titans.

Manly Sea Eagles Team News

Manly have named an unchanged line-up for this weekend’s Anzac Day clash.

The Sea Eagles already have Andrew Davey and Morgan Boyle out for the season due to injuries.

Curtis Sironen and Moses Suli aren’t expected back for another fortnight, while Dylan Walker and Karl Lawton are expected to be sidelined until Round 12.

Jack Gosiewski’s foot injury is expected to keep him sidelined until Round 17.

Verdict

The Tigers are getting closer to a win, but their defence is still a huge problem. The crafty kicking game of Daly Cherry-Evans and the brilliance of Tom Trbojevic should be too much for the Tigers.

Manly to win a high-scoring contest, but by a margin of 1-12, with Trbojevic to end his wait for a try against Wests.
