The Roosters will likely start slow as they often doo which will have them chasing their tails again, however, they will finish better off than they did last season as long as they can stay a little healthier. The stacked Sydney side will be right in the mix again come finals time in September.

What’s to like

The Roosters had a rough start to 22023 and were all money to miss the finals when predictions came out after the origin period, however, they did what Sydney do finishing strong with 5 wins in the regular season and became the threat they were meant be all season and were seconds away from a Preliminary final berth.

The point with the recap is that Sydney’s best 17 last season was as good as any in the end, when they got their….. well when they got it together. Now, they have added the 25 try scoring Dom Young and three-time premiership winner Spencer Leniu.

So yeah, the Roosters are stacked!

What’s NOT to like

In 2023, the Roosters lacked conjinuity in their attack for the most part of the season, averaging just 16.3 points per game in the first 17 games of the season. That number did increase substantially in their final 9 games to 24.4 point per game, but the worry is that it should never have been that low in the first place.

Joseph Suaalii spent most of the season playing in the centres last year and the experiment didn’t work. Dom Young now comes into the side and for me the smart option is to put Suaalii back to the wing as you see in the predicted lineup, but I am not sure that Trent Robinson will leave Daniel Tupou out of the side and may ush Billy Smith to the reserves.

The confusion and chopping and changing at the back last year was a problem and if it happens again it could once again hurt the Roosters.
