Sydney Roosters vs Wests Tigers Tips
The last three weeks have been do or die for the Roosters and they have come unscathed as a whole. However they will now face the challenge of getting a victory against the Tigers without their fearless leader James Tedesco, who suffered a concussion in their third win on the trot.
Most books have pegged the Roosters as anywhere between 14.5 and 17.5-point favourites, which I like as a fade option, especially at a 17.5-point start to the Tigers.
The disruption in attack with Joey Manu at fullback and Sam Walker back in at halfback will cause a disconnection at times that will keep this game closer than it should’ve been. It is also why I am on the Roosters to score less than 30 points in the match.
Joey Manu hasn’t been a prolific try scorer at fullback in his career, however, his combination on the right side of the Roosters attack will still be on show against a weak left-side defence of the Tigers
- West Tigers last 5 losses have been by less than 17.5 points.
- 9 of the Roosters 11 wins this season have been by less than 17.5 points.
- The Roosters have scored 30 points or less in 20 of 22 games played this season.
- The Tigers concede 41% of their tries on the left side
Head to Head
The Sydney Roosters have won their last six games against the Wests Tigers, while really dominating them over the last 13 years, winning 19 of their last 21 matches.
The two clubs most recently met in round 23 last season with the Roosters crushing the Tigers 72-6 at the SCG.
Sydney Roosters Form
The Roosters have hit some form over the past three weeks clinching onto the thread of hope that they can turn their three-game winning streak into five and make it into the finals.
Getting wins over Manly, Dolphins and Parramatta has been on the back of their attack finally finding a little form in 2023.
The Roosters averaged just 17 points in offensive production over the first 23 rounds, but have turned it around over the last three rounds averaging 30 points-for per match.
Sydney Roosters Team News

Verdict
The Tigers will fight and can keep this game close covering the line as underdogs. The Roosters' injury to Tedesco will cause their attack to be more disjointed than it has been the last few weeks thus scoring 30 points or less. Joey Manu can cross the line from fullback attacking the left side of the Tigers defence.
