Sydney Roosters vs Dolphins Tips

The Roosters will be looking for revenge for their round 1 defeat to the Dolphins. Both sides are fighting to hold on to their finals hopes and still have a mathematical chance of making the eight with a month left to play in the regular season.

I predict this game to be a cracker that will come down to the wire with either team winning by a margin of 1-12, as the majority of NRL games do.

The Dolphins have been good in attack when pinned up against bottom eight teams or weaker defensive sides so three converted tries is a manageable Team Total for the newcomers. Jamayne Isaako is back to his tryscoring best after a little dip in form, expect him to fly over for another against the Roosters.

  • 58% of all games have finished with a margin of 1-12.
  • All 5 of the Dolphins last 5 games have resulted in a margin of 1-12.
  • Dolphins have scored 18 points or more in 7 of 8 games against bottom 8 teams in 2023
  • Jamayne Isaako scored 3 tries last week and scored 2 tries against the Roosters in round 1.

Head to Head

The Roosters lost emphatically to the Dolphins in the newcomers’ first-ever NRL match. The Dolphins scored three unanswered tries after the break after going in at halftime 12-12.

The Dolphins tired the Roosters out in the middle gaining over 400 more Run Metres which opened up the line for the likes of Jeremy Marshall-King and the Hammer to exploit.

Sydney Roosters Form

For the second time in three weeks, the Roosters came out of the sheds with intent against Manly, just as they did against the Titans.

Sydney went up 18-2 at halftime and took it out to 22-2 before Nathan Brown was sent off which opened the door for three Manly tries, the game finishing 26-16.

The win kept the Roosters’ slim finals hopes alive and will need to win the remaining four games of the season if they are given any chance of playing in the finals.

Sydney Roosters Team News

Fiery red-head Dylan Napa will make his return to the NRL on the bench for the Roosters for the first time since 2021, replacing the suspended Nathan Brown.

Dolphins Form

The Dolphins recorded their third straight loss and their seventh in their last eight, when they went down to the Knights by just two points at Optus Stadium, in Perth last weekend.

It was another close loss for the Dolphins who have been defeated by the Bulldogs and now the Knights by less than two points in the last two weeks.

No matter the margin they are still losses though, which has resulted in the Dolphins waving goodbye to their finals hopes.

The Dolphins will keep this game close by scoring at least three converted tries, which will inevitably give a game result ending in a margin of 1-12. Jamayne Isaako will continue his quest to score the most tries in 2023 with another one against the Roosters.
