Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane Broncos Tips

The Roosters handed out thumpings to the Broncos last year and this should be a case of by how many. Brisbane were beaten by 44 points last week, and the Roosters can produce something similar.

Back Sydney to cover the handicap and to win by more than 40 points.

  • Sydney Roosters are 5-0 at home this season.
  • Sydney Roosters have won the last 2 matches against Brisbane Broncos by 46 and 59 points.

Head to Head

Sydney Roosters have won five of the last eight clashes with the Brisbane Broncos, including both meetings last year.

The Roosters handed out two heavy defeats to Brisbane, winning 59-0 and 58-12 in 2020. They have also won both previous meetings at the SCG comprehensively by a combined 94-16.

Sydney Roosters Form

The injury-hit Roosters came through another test last week, getting the better of the North Queensland Cowboys 30-16 in Magic Round in Brisbane.

It was a welcome victory following a 31-18 defeat against the Parramatta Eels in Round 9.

The Roosters have won three of the last four with comprehensive wins over St George Illawarra Dragons and Newcastle Knights despite a crippling injury list.

Sydney Roosters Team News

The Roosters are unchanged from last week's win.

Fletcher Baker comes into the reserves in place of Tupuka-Ke Hau Tapuha in the only change to the extended squad.

The Roosters are still without Freddy Lussick, Boyd Cordner, Sam Verrills, Drew Hutchison, Billy Smith, Luke Keary, Brett Morris and Lindsay Collins.

Brisbane Broncos Form

The Broncos suffered an eighth defeat of the season when thumped 50-6 by the Manly Sea Eagles at Suncorp Stadium last weekend.

Brisbane failed to make the most of playing an away game on their home patch in Magic Round as they were brushed aside in a one-side game.

There had been some optimism amongst Broncos fans after a 36-28 win over Gold Coast Titans and agonising 19-18 defeat to North Queensland Cowboys in the previous two games.

Brisbane Broncos Team News

The Broncos have lost Jordan Riki to suspension and Kevin Walters makes a number of changes to the Brisbane side.

Anthony Milford is dropped along with Corey Oates, while Danny Levi has moved from the interchange bench into the reserves.

In come Keenan Palasia for the suspended Riki, David Mead for Oates and debutant Kobe Hetherington, who starts from the interchange.

Dale Copley starts in the centres after Herbie Farnworth picked up a hamstring strain.

Albert Kelly also makes his return to the NRL from the Super League as the new Broncos five-eighth in place of Milford.
