- 2024 State of Origin New South Wales vs Queensland Man of the Match Predictions
- New South Wales - Dylan Edwards
- Queensland - Ben Hunt
Daly Cherry-Evans picked up the Man of the Match honours in Game 1 on the back of a monstrous effort leading the Maroons to victory. Cherry Evans had 2 try assists together with 112 metres from 7 runs, a line break assist and an often understated metric of 442 kicking metres. A worthy winner of the best on field title.
- Since 2017, 8 forwards, 5 fullbacks, 7 halves and 2 centres have won the MOTM honours.
- Jake Trbojevic (Game 2, 2019) is the only member of the NSW team to have ever won a Man of the Match award at Origin level.
- Lindsay Collins, Reuben Cotter, Ben Hunt and Daly Cherry-Evans have all won Man of the Match awards in Origin.

New South Wales - Dylan Edwards
Game 1 was one of the biggest anti-climaxes for Edwards who was all set to make his debut for the Blues before being ruled out with injury. He now will get that opportunity again in a must win game for NSW.
Edwards is the biggest metre-eater in the NRL and his ballrunning skills and toughness coming out of his own end is second to none. If as predicted this game delves into a tight tussle, every single metre will be of importance for a team to get into position to mount an attacking raid.
Not only is Dylan Edwards fantastic at running the ball out from his own end he is one of the most dynamic players when attacking the opposition tryline with a vision long beyond his experience. He will most surely pop up coming underneath to try and snag a try close to the line.
Queensland - Ben Hunt
It is a long shot taking a player that won’t play the entire game but Ben Hunt is the third favourite of all Queenslanders to win Man of the Match in Game 2.
Hunt is a gritty player, especially at Origin level and this game is expected to be a proper arm-wrestle. Any sort of advantage that the dummy-halves can forge through quick little scoots or vision to the right side could be instrumental in clinching victory.
The Maroons number 9 was a key player in the Game 1 victory and was probably not far off taking the honour if not for Cherry-Evans’ big intercept sealing the game.
Verdict
If NSW win the game it will be on the back of a massive effort from Dylan Edwards with his Run Metres and vision in attack.
If QLD win the grind-out Ben Hunt will be in with a very good chance to pick up the honours with his tough defensive prescence as well as ball playing in and around the ruck.
