State of Origin 2024 New South Wales vs Queensland Wally Lewis Medalist Prediction

  • State of Origin 2024 New South Wales vs Queensland Wally Lewis Medalist Prediction
  • Queensland - Reece Walsh (Fullback)
  • New South Wales - Cameron McInnes (Lock)

Craig Fitzgibbon won the 2004 Wally Lewis Medal in its inaugural year as the award to the player of the State of Origin series. Since then it has been a medal dominated by the Queensland team who have had commanding success over the Blues over the past 20 years.

Over the past two seasons it has been awarded to two workhorses of the game and two men that will feature once again for the Queensland Maroons, Patrick Carrigan (2022) and Reuben Cotter (2023).

The effort needed to be the Man of the Series is set at a super-human level after Cotter in 2023. The Mackay junior averaged 45.33 Tackles per game in last year’s series, along with 109.33 Run Metres from 37 Hit Ups.

Bets.com NRL experts have come together to give you their prediction for the 2024 series and who they expect to be the most valuable to their team in the 2024 State of Origin series and have potential to win the 2024 Wally Lewis Medal.

Queensland - Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Centre)

The Hammer is a livewire and has scored 4 tries already in this series, scoring three in the opener and snagging another in Game 2 giving him an incredible strike rate of 9 tries in his 6 appearences for Queensland.

The stage is set in the decider at Suncorp and NSW have had trouble containing the Cairns native, who has definately been the biggest threat for the Maroons in attack in this series.

If the Hammer gets another in Game 3 he will tie the record of most tries in a series held by Ryan Girdler (200) and Lote Tuqiri (2002). If he gets a couple I don't think he can be denied the Wally Lewis Medal if Queensland are victorious.

New South Wales - Mitch Moses (Halfback)

Mitch Moses performance in Game 2 is arguably one of the greatest Origin performances of all-time and was no doubt deserving of the Man of the Match award.

His 4 try assists and 2 linebreak assists along with 442 kick metres turned the series on its head and has NSW with a chance to win back the State of Origin shield.

If the Paramatta halfback puts in similar performance in Game 3 and NSW get the victory he will be a shoo-in for the Wally Lewis Medal.

Verdict

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is the QLD pick for the Wally Lewis Medal.

Mitch Moses is the NSW pick for the Wally Lewis Medal.
